34 Before 34: Tucson Gem and Mineral Show

I am a goal-accomplishing beast!

This is me holding up gems from the Tucson Gem Show because I am a goal-accomplishing beast!
One down, 33 to go. AND did I mention that I am on Chapter 30 of Anna Karenina AND making excellent progress on finishing one of my crossword puzzle books, AND that I took the bus this morning? Yeah. Straight killin' it with the accomplishing of goals.

So here is the thing about the Tucson Gem Show: It can be very overwhelming to figure out if you have never been before or if you are me. There are tons and tons of locations, some of which are open to the public, some of which are only open to wholesale/dealers. So for my first year attending the Tucson Gem Show, a big group of my friends and I went to just one location that was touted as a the "True Blue Bead Show."

I LOVED it! There were so many pretty, sparkly, shiny things to look at and dig through and, of course, buy.

Downside: You are not really allowed to take pictures, but I still managed to sneak a few.

Box after teeny tiny box of Swarovski crystals in every color of the rainbow.

I really wish I had more pictures of this gorgeous jewelry. It was made from real leaves. Stunning!

This is what I saw the most of at the gem show strands upon strands of beads in every imaginable shape, size, and color.

The happy attendees!
I had the [mis]fortune of coming across a booth featuring a company called "Repurposed Heirlooms" that sold amazing spoon rings, some of which were antique or rare. Spoon rings hold a very special place in my heart. I am now the proud owner of an Alhambra pattern spoon ring from 1907.

So lots of wins on the goal-accomplishing front, but the one month spending freeze goal? That's going to have to wait a month.

Interested in attending the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show? It ends this weekend, but I found these two sites to be good sources of information:
